Archive: Dutch President Lubbers blocked from visiting Israël in 1988

In 1988, Jamal Khamis reached out to the Dutch Parliament in order to stop the president from visiting an event celebrating the fortieth year of Israëli existence. He formed a coalition of Dutch Palestinian representatives to bring this matter to the nation.

As a result of their combined efforts, the Dutch Parliament decided against the Presidents visitation of Israël.
